Cubs Spring Training 2017 Preview and Optimism to Repeat as Champs
New Cubs Closer in 2017
The Aroldis Chapman signing was just what the Cubs needed and he was used (perhaps too much) time and time again to shut down their opponents during the NL Playoffs and World Series matchup against the Cleveland Indians. With Aroldis Chapman now playing for the New York Yankees again, the Cubs needed a new closer.. One with experience and success. The Cubs traded away Jorge Soler, a very talented yet under performing right fielder to the Kansas City Royals for Wade Davis. Despite some injury problems Wade Davis was spectacular for the Royals. The Cubs hope that Wade's arm problems are behind him and he can be the dominant Cubs closer that they desperately need.
Cubs Chances to Repeat in 2017
With the Chicago Cubs no longer being the "Lovable Losers" the Cubs will have the entire National League gunning for them. The Cardinals have added some pieces that will make them a threat to challenge the Cubs in the division. However, the Cubs starting lineup remains loaded from top to bottom. The Cubs lost their leadoff hitter (who has signed with rival St. Louis) but will hopefully have a healthy Kyle Schwarber from day 1 of 2017. While he most certainly isn't a base stealer, he is a very patient hitter and makes and intriguing possibility to lead off and get on base in front of Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo.
How far will the Cubs go in 2017? That remains to be seen, but Joe Maddon always seems to bring the best out of his teams and the Cubs young team is full of players with amazing character who have a strong will to win. Cub fans eagerly anticipate defending their World Series Championship and have the talent to give their fans a full season of excitement that stretches deep into October.
Cubs Custom Jerseys With World Series Patch
I love all Chicago Teams (except for the White Sox) but my Cub jerseys are definitely worn the most office during the season. While my Bears jerseys and 2015 Chicago Blackhawks champs jersey is still worn in regular rotation, my Kris Bryant jersey has become my favorite. If you have a favorite player, you can custom design the Cubs jersey shown in the photo above and have any player added from the Cubs roster.
