Well, the Chicago Cubs have signed Marlon Byrd and he should fill one of their voids adequately, but other than Byrd signing the Cubs have been relatively silent during the off season. Pitchers and cathers report to camp in a few weeks but main stories in Chicago have been "where are the Cubs going to play their spring training games", and "is Andre Dawson going to wear a Cubs hat" when he is inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Hopefully the Cubs will be able to spring another trade or two before the season starts. This team can be competitive the way the team currently stands, but it will be tough to overtake the Cardinals. Not too mention that the Cincinnati Reds have improved themselves and their solid starting rotation could make the division even tighter.
